Responsible for the functional development of the Trent1000 TEN engine during the 787-10 Boeing aircraft & engine certification campaign in Seattle, WA. Implementing engine software updates, and creating software trim modifications. Liaising with Boeing ground and flight operations to arrange engine modifications. The technical representative during Boeing pre-flight / post-flight pilot briefs. Responsible for engine monitoring and fault investigation/resolution during the engine and aircraft flight tests. Later moved to Tucson, AZ to continue with the Trent1000 engine development testing on the RR Flying Test Bed (FTB). Responsible for creating and executing complex engine software modification trims during a series of flight tests. Being a technical representative for the engine control system during the Trent1000 engine recovery program.

Liaising with various R-R groups and external customers at a senior level to design and develop software control systems. Technical responsibilities include, Heat Management, Thrust Ratings, Engine Exceedances, Signal Processing and Data Acquisition. Responsible for designing safety-critical real-time embedded software systems for Rolls-Royce gas turbine aero engines. FADEC system design including formal requirements capture and traceability. Liaising with R-R groups to design and develop a variety of hardware and software solutions including signal processing, data acquisition and functional software requirements. Technical responsibilities include Thrust Reverser, Heat Management, Thrust Ratings, Engine Exceedances, and EMC Analysis. Progressing system design solutions through the relevant preliminary and critical design reviews with the Chief Design Engineer. Providing peer reviews for the Systems team and hosting conferences with customers (Boeing) to advise and discuss updates to software packages.

Aero Engine Controls (AEC) is part of the Rolls-Royce Group. Providing full authority digital electronic control (FADEC) systems for aero gas turbine engines. Responsible for producing and certifying safety-critical, real-time embedded software for engine control systems, including requirements capture, fault finding and diagnostics, producing reports, designs and codes. Whilst adhering to appropriate procedures and project plans I also provide support to customers and external agency reviews and audits.

Designing & developing analogue & digital power electronic devices to control diesel fuel pumps and injectors in a test and repair process. Designing embedded software (low-level assembler & C) and human interfacing systems. Working with OEM customers on revenue and R&D projects to create customised control systems to be used in authorised global repair workshops. Maintaining PC software applications and legacy hardware. Adhering to engineering design codes of practice and creating test and diagnostic / repair specifications.

Developing a bespoke programming language used within the automotive control & measurement industry. Designing PC applications to control and test fuel injection equipment for OEM global after-market repair networks. Adhering to engineering procedures and software design codes of practice. Working throughout the software design life-cycle from concept to test & debugging and finally production release. Creating concept and design specifications.

An EPSRC funded project to develop test-rigs and experimental techniques of actuators and power technologies for the use within power-assisted rigid orthoses. The project included 3D CAD design of mechanical test-rigs and development of software using LabVIEW for the control and data acquisition of power actuators.
