I specialize in IP strategy, helping international companies protect, defend, and enforce their patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights.I represent clients in commercial matters before federal and administrative courts throughout the country, with an emphasis on patent and trademark litigation. I have been admitted to practice in MA, CT, NY, USPTO, dozens of district and appellate courts, and the Supreme Court. I have a track record of successfully litigating cases with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. I am regularly engaged as an expert on patent issues, including for invalidity and non-infringement opinions. I have prepared and prosecuted thousands of patent applications in a wide range of technologies and industries, including software, medical devices, industrial machinery, artificial intelligence (AI), control systems, networking, cryptography, robotics, aerospace, autonomous vehicles, blockchain, power storage/generation (batteries), green technology, fashion, materials, food science, biotech/pharma, and consumer products. My prosecution and litigation practices complement each other, providing a unique perspective and tools for a full range of IP strategies. I have extensive expertise with IP portfolio management, brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, due diligence, and licensing issues. I regularly author articles and give presentations on IP issues (see below). I have a degree in Computer Science and was inducted into Upsilon Pi Upsilon, the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines. My prior professional experience includes work as an information technology consultant and a software developer, creating enterprise-wide project management and collaboration solutions for one of the first Internet Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers. During law school I held clerkships for the Vermont Judiciary as well as the Principal Legal Advisor for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). I live in Stamford CT with my wife and three daughters.
