Profile bio

About Stephen Blower

I am an experienced and enthusiastic tester, with over 20 years extensive experience of testing in a variety of fields, including managerial roles. My testing career began in the Games Industry at Gremlin Interactive in 1997. Since that time I have built upon that fledgling testing experience and have since worked in many varied fields, which include, Internet Service Provider, Recruitment Software, Gambling Websites, Version Control and Finance. I am fully conversant with many and varied testing techniques and have been solely responsible for overhauling the QA departmental practices for several companies. From ad-hoc non proven testing practices to recognised testing techniques, which included (but not limited to) smoke testing, regression testing, acceptance testing, unit testing, integration testing, automated regression testing and load testing, all based around a Context Driven Testing approach. I have introduced new testing techniques and concepts and encouraged buy-in with the team and the business. This has resulted in the delivery of projects with less problems encountered on release and less risk to roll out schedules. These changes have proved to be overarching and long standing and with continuous improvement helped to create a professionally recognised QA department within the businesses I have worked for.I am also the founder of Sheffield Test Gathering now called Ministry of Testing - SheffieldSpecialties: Rapid Software Testing, Context Driven Testing.

Listed skills include Testing, Test Planning, Test Management, Test Automation, and 10 others.

I had an integral part with the migration of the PlusNet payment systems; being a massively important part of the business it was crucial that the live roll-out was problem free. Qa Manager

Sheffield, United Kingdom

Throughout my time within QA I continued to introduce recognised QA concepts and was responsible for encouraging buy-in within the team and the business, which resulted in the delivery of projects with less problems encountered on release and less risk to roll out schedules. These changes proved to be overarching and long standing and continuous improvement was necessary to create a more professionally recognised QA department within the business. I evaluated several automated testing tools and eventually introduced Selenium for automated testing and creating a regression suite and NeoLoad for load testing. Training was also provided for the team.During my time as QA Manager I gradually expanded the team from four to eight who I was responsible for hiring. I also took on an off shore QA team based in India of four QA Engineers; furthermore I garnered businesses by-in to second staff from the CSC department to help in QA during busy times.
