As the Director of Operations, I am responsible for supporting the organization’s operations, strategic growth, and people-focused culture by overseeing operational and administrative functions, providing project management guidance and leadership advice, and creating systems that contribute to the efficacy and efficiency of the whole organization. As Operations Manager, I supported the organization’s operations, growth, and culture by managing day-to-day operational and administrative functions, supporting project planning and implementation, creating systems that contribute to the efficacy and efficiency of the team, and providing project management support.Key areas included: • managing operational and administrative functions across all organizational units; • co-developing project design, planning, implementation, and management; • creating systems that contribute to the efficacy and efficiency of the team; • co-leading on organizational budget; • leading operations team with supervision of Operations Assistant & Executive Assistant; and, • advising leadership on critical cross-organizational strategy.

In addition to my full time professional staff appointment at I-GMAP, I was appointed as an adjunct faculty member in Latin American and Caribbean Area Studies. • For Fall 2021, I designed and taught a new course on Peace & Violence in Latin America. Cross-listed with Genocide & Mass Atrocity Prevention (GMAP), Sociology, and Political Science, and counted toward the Philosophy, Politics, and Law (PPL) major/minor.• For Summer 2021, I designed and taught a new course, LACS 380M: Human Rights in the Americas. I designed it to be delivered in two different modalities in two sections, one online synchronous and one online asynchronous.• During the Spring 2021 semester, I taught LACS 271: Research Methods in Latin American and Caribbean Area Studies. I developed this course to be facilitated in an online synchronous format and worked with some great undergraduate students in developing their research skills.

For three years, I served full-time on the leadership team for the Institute. Some areas of focus were:Research & Policy Analysis• Led our efforts in launching the Mechanisms for Atrocity Prevention Project, a semi-annual policy paper series, which included spearheading the process of gathering, collating, and analyzing data on mechanisms from a range of the Institute's international partners in both government and non-governmental organizations. • Maintained and grew the network of international partnerships and strengthened the analytical components of the research projects. • Oversaw and supervised Institute staff in the design, production, and distribution of the publications, and led efforts to assess and increase its quality and impact.Teaching• Created the framework to teach two graduate courses every Fall and Spring semester: GMAP 550 Mechanisms for Atrocity Prevention and GMAP 580 GMAP Field Placement.Field Placements• Coordinated the Institute's two field placement programs: the semester-long field placements for graduate students in the Master of Science in Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention + the month-long internship placements for undergraduates in the Minor in Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention. • Worked with domestic & international partners to establish, support and expand field placement options; supervised the assignment of appropriate placements for students in both government and non-governmental agencies with a prevention focus; tasked to oversee and assess the individual placements and the field placement program overall.Communications• Coordinated the Institute's social media presence on the website & in digital communications.Development and Advancement• Developed and implemented a comprehensive fundraising and grant strategy for the Institute's research and curricular programs, in consultation with the co-directors, the Binghamton University Foundation, and the Binghamton University Research Foundation.

I co-instructed a UNIV 101 (first-year experience) section on "Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention: What Can You Do?" with Professor Max Pensky.

• Provided leadership for the Center, which serves the roughly 5000 students in the College, in strategic planning, decision making, staff development and coordination of office and Co-op summer budgets.• Oversaw daily operations of the Cornell Engineering Cooperative Education program (28-week internships in organizations around the world) for 150 students and 60-90 employers annually.• Recruited students into the program and perform counseling/advising roles.• Engaged in corporate outreach, marketing, recruiting and public relations activities.• Executed program evaluation and overall program administration.• Coordinated the Summer Session Academic Program, which offers 30+ courses for 200 students.• Assisted with advising, programming, and administrative activities in the Center’s general functions.

Advising• Served as primary advisor for 400+ students per year on the full array of education abroad options, including semester, academic year, short-term, and not-for credit options in the following regions:Latin America & the Caribbean; East Asia -- China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Mongolia; Europe -- Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain; and Comparative multi-country programs.• Partnered with faculty and college advisors to determine curricular fit and created pathways to education abroad for Cornell students in specific majors.• Created and implemented pre-departure orientations to prepare students for their international experiences.Administration• Developed and administered online application/admissions process for my program portfolio.• Reviewed programs for possible approval by Cornell.• Traveled to represent Cornell Abroad at national meetings and conferences.• Conducted international site visits to assess programs available to Cornell students or assist in program development, recruiting and promotion.Promotion and Outreach• Worked with faculty, college advisors, directors of undergraduate study, and other school officials to promote greater awareness of and participation in meaningful international education opportunities.

• Managed the administration of a portfolio of 12 Binghamton study abroad and exchange programs in 8 countries with an average of 190 students.• Designed and built our office's Terra Dotta site with working group.• Served as the Information Technology staff person in the Office of International Programs.

Co-instructed a section of Harpur 101 (a freshmen experience course) for the Fall 2014 semester.

• Interpreted from Spanish or Italian to English and vice versa in clinical mental health situations.• Helped to bridge the linguistic and cultural gap between mental health providers and clients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).• Maintained strong professional relationships with providers and clients.• Attended monthly training sessions to develop interpreting and cultural competency skills.
