Partners with the Executive Artistic Director and Executive Managing Director to develop and implement community-based creative programming focused on social issues such as Creative Aging, climate justice, youth engagement, and racial equity. This work encompasses guiding projects from initial concept through implementation and community follow-up.In this role, I direct local programming and oversee partnerships, fostering connections that align with Dance Exchange’s mission. My responsibilities include supporting grant development and execution, as well as marketing and strategic communications, which involve maintaining and overseeing the organization’s website and participant registration processes.Expertise cultivated in strategic partnership development, equitable community engagement, resource development, arts-integrated facilitation, operational framework enhancement, cross-sector collaboration, and collaborative leadership models. This work is grounded in a long-standing commitment to leveraging art—particularly dance and embodied practices—as a catalyst for social change, community building, and culturally engaged healing.

Co-direct the design and implementation of all aspects of the 501(c)3 international touring dance, arts education and consulting organization. Expertise cultivated in workforce empowerment, community organizing, resource development, strategic planning, financial management, alternative infrastructure development, arts-integrated facilitation strategies, strategic partnership development, equitable operational practices, conflict navigation, and region-wide event production.During his tenure with Dance Metro DC, Clapp rebuilt the organization from an online calendar listing to a highly impactful regional arts service provider. He developed a robust membership program, produced and presented multiple diverse artist showcases, created professional development opportunities, provided choreographic commissions for new works, and was the lead organizer for the first and second annual DC Dance Summits. He built an infrastructure that facilitated a working board committee structure and organized programming into three initiatives: Community Cohesion among a diverse spectrum of dance makers and creative participants; Cultural Visibility including audience development and identifying community impact; and Economic Stability for individuals and organizations in dance. Clapp also launched the DC Dance Journalism project and led the organization’s first ever strategic plan which centered anti-oppression practices and inclusive policies.The mission of Dance Metro DC is to strengthen the field of dance in the national capital region.
