Based within NZDF’s Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), Stephen is responsible for leading the design & development of a Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (P3M) data management process. This is a cross portfolio initiative that includes both NZDF and Ministry of Defence (MOD). It will enable a standardisation of their P3M data across the enterprise (i.e. a minimum viable dataset) that will in turn drive better P3 reporting and insights. This workstream includes significant change management components and operating model definition to ensure portfolios across NZDF and MOD take a more structured approach to data management practices going forward.

This project is still on-going and involves the deployment of wide range of web based functions and processing, all of which supports in the internal workflows and administration within CablePrice.

Key Responsibilities: As principal of Synoptix, Stephen has been involved in business development, and the establishment of internal policies and systems to support the operations and service delivery of this business. The business development role has meant dealing with a range of client staff including CEO's, project management and business owners. Synoptix is very close to a paperless office based around a Microsoft Sharepoint environment which provides a company knowledgebase, document and records management, KPI reporting, custom developed web applications, as well as a range of Intranet functions and content. Sharepoint has become a key technology platform both internally and for the delivery of services to clients. Stephen has been the key driver behind the development of skills and solutions based on the Sharepoint platform.

Key Responsibilities: Allied Farmers has undertaken a number of tactically important projects as they carry out substantial changes in the business models they operate under. Many of the projects have been undertaken concurrently, requiring detailed scheduling and allocation of projects resources.

Key Responsibilities: Synoptix provides key software development resources to Allied Farmers, and has been involved in the development and on-gong support of key operational and accounting systems over the past 20 plus years.

Key Responsibilities: Much of the IT Strategic planning undertaken by Allied Farmers in the past 20 plus years has been facilitated by Stephen. Key strategy recommendations have contributed to the longevity of their core applications without comprising the ability to use web based reporting/applications and business intelligence tools that leverage the corporate data repositories.

Key Responsibilities: Stephen was Project Manager responsible for the management reporting and Business Intelligence solution delivered for Speirs Finance using ETL into SQL Server, Reporting Services and Sharepoint for deployment ..This involved carrying out the scoping and costing of the project stages, and were being delivered as specified/costed to the client. The Data Warehouse design and creation was carried out using ERWin, and included both replicated data and derived KPIs.2007

Key Responsibilities: Stephen was involved in the scoping and requirements gathering for a data warehousing and reporting project that was to be part of pilot for national reporting by DHB's. This involved liaising with other Health agencies and mapping of the data interchange standards with actual data available at Whanganui HDB.2007

Key Responsibilities: Stephen was the facilitator in the design and deployment of a Sharepoint based Intranet for Higgins Group, and also had overall responsibility for the project management functions.2007

Key Responsibilities: Stephen managed a number of projects within the Project Management Office, including the application development of the workflow application mentioned above and infrastructure upgrades /roll outs and the facilitation of the issue and evaluation of a Request for Proposal.

Key Responsibilities: Stephen was involved in the requirements gathering exercise, and then system design, for a complex workflow application, that had both internal and external stakeholders. The workflow application was the first Powerco application to be designed and developed in a .Net application framework environment and to have the database designed around the Enterprise Data Model which was made possible within ERWin for both data modeling and database design.

Key Responsibilities: Stephen managed the application development and deployment of the www.tenderlink.com application which continues to be developed and evolved today.

Key Responsibilities: Stephen was appointed as a Project Manager for TDHB in the middle of large scale deployment of accounting (Oracle Financials) and operations Systems (IBA ad Détente). TDHB had been through mediation with the prime vendor for the roll out. It was Stephen's responsibility to progress the various projects and re-build the working relationship with Vendors. This was largely achieved within six weeks, with the CEO being able to move to a watching brief on the projects rather than a hands on day to day management role.
