During my time at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center, I was assistant to the Director of Education and a CNA Mentor/Precept. My duties consisted of assuring state compliance of policy and procedure with the Kentucky State Board of Nursing and OSHA. Ensuring quality and continuing education of all nursing staff was a primary duty as I assisted the Director of Education in certifying completion of requirements set by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing direction. Auditing employee files for IRS compliance, current accreditation and licensing, and coaching support staff provided a way to develop leadership ability and comfort with presenting education material in front of a large audience. As a CNA mentor, it was my joyful duty to support the nursing support staff and educate them on the company policy and procedure. Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation granted me the ability to demand higher goals for myself as a leader and guide organizational behavior.
