I was accountable for developing productive working partnerships with key stakeholders, including Commonwealth and Victorian governments, to enhance familiarity with the Centre’s research platform, create opportunity to inform policy and to maximise funding support. I exercised my familiarity with government personnel, cycles (and systems) and my ability to engender a purposeful network of personal relationships with influencers. I also cultivated research-specific partnerships with corporate entities and philanthropists, including a successful engagement with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, to enhance the implantation and publicity of an Indigenous children’s eye health initiative in remote and regional Australia. As part of a new external relations portfolio, I developed and executed an integrated communication strategy, to position the Centre as a progressive medical researcher through targeted publicity and to promote more efficient internal communication.

(FTC)I was commissioned by Australian Catholic University to conduct a review of its relationships with existing and desired stakeholders and to advise on related communication practices. Over the course of this pilot project, I consulted leading representatives of government, health, business, philanthropic and legal sectors, as well as the Melbourne Archbishop Dennis Hart. Delivery of a comprehensive review and recommendations to enhance communication and engagement, relied on my efficient project management skills and insights into best practice communications and engagement with multiple business partners.

(1 year FTC)Governor His Excellency John Landy AC MBE & Lieutenant Governor Lady Marigold Southey AC.In this unique role, I engaged a wide variety of stakeholders and served as personal advisor, speechwriter and press secretary to the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.Key to my success in tactfully representing the Office of the Governor was my refined inter-personal skills. I liaised directly with Heads of State (including HRH Prince of Wales, TRH Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark) foreign diplomats, the Governor General, Commonwealth and Victorian government representatives, community and business delegations. I managed official engagements at Government House, including protocol, media and logistics arrangements and planned the Governor's participation/ attendance at external engagements. Further, I accompanied the Governor and Lieutenant Governor at official and private engagements at Government House and externally.I briefed the Governor daily about matters relating to official programming and developed speeches in consultation with relevant stakeholders - working with the Governor through key passage revision and preparation.

Serving within this Cabinet portfolio at a highly politically sensitive time, I collaborated with fellow staffers and departmental peers to provide accurate, timely and reliable counsel on strategic communications and media management. I contributed to the formation of issue briefings, Question Time talking points and statements, speeches and media releases, and co-ordinated media engagements at Sydney's Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices.This position provided me with significant experience and insights into the dynamics of issue-rich governance, policy making and media management, within one of the most prominent ministries. Herbert was one of Australia's most marginal seats (held by fewer than 150 votes). Based at Parliament House Canberra and in North Queensland, I provided political and media counsel - developing productive relationships with parliamentary peers, industry and local community to create opportunities to promote the incumbent's progressive representation. I managed local and national media engagement, produced speeches, media releases and advertising. I also accompanied the incumbent throughout the electorate at stakeholder engagements and public events. In Parliament, I provided general political counsel and liaised with ministerial offices.I devised a successful re-election media strategy, targeting key local issues and drawing down on relevant national policy, contributing to re-election.
