I'm a versatile Melbourne writer and journalist and a PhD candidate in creative writing at Monash University. I'm studying the narrative techniques of the great German novelist W. G. Sebald and, in particular, his use of a fascinating binary, the uncanny and nostalgia.While I have a fast-growing interest in integrated reporting, I've written quite a few books, several of which have won prizes. My book about the death of our family cat Blackie has been my biggest-seller. A history of Australian restaurants and the development of Australian cooking between the Melbourne and Sydney Olympics has won most awards. I've had a play professionally staged, and I've written two full-length movie scripts. Until recently, I was probably the world's longest-serving top-level professional restaurant critic. I have a strong interest in improving corporate communications . There is no doubt that the best companies, the ones that will attract most investment, will in future need to report on the totality of their effects on society. In short, they will need to come clean to attract investment. As a first step, corporations of all sizes and types would do well to hire professional writers to pen more simply and clearly their reports. Several of my books have won national and international awards, and two have been translated into a total of five languages. My latest book, 'A Lasting Record', about America's greatest pianist and a lipstick salesman who immortalised his genius, is in the shops. I've also presented many hundreds of hours of professional training and teaching, mainly to executives and university students. I write anything and everything -- copy of all sorts, speeches, newspaper features and blogposts. I teach business etiquette and client relationships, and in universities I tutor and lecture in journalism and media law. After decades spent writing professionally, my words are precise, concise and grammatically correct.
