Georgia-born, I grew up during a transformative era when technology was rapidly evolving. My early experiences with video game consoles and computers without operating systems sparked a deep interest in this field. Driven by curiosity, I dismantled everything I could get my hands on—vacuum cleaners, VCRs, and even the drivetrain of my dad’s 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. Once I understood how they worked, I’d meticulously put everything back together.My journey into technology continued in the Air Force, where I delved into computer information technology and networking. After my time in the Air Force ended, I moved back to Georgia and started developing websites and building computers. As my client base grew, I founded ‘Pure Web,’ working alongside a few developers from my Dunwoody living room.One notable project involved creating a content management system for a client with frequent update requests—this was before platforms like WordPress. This experience demonstrated that custom applications could simplify tasks and improve efficiency. Pure Web’s reputation grew, leading us to move from my living room to a dedicated office in Dunwoody.A decade later, I relocated my family to the beautiful countryside of Northeast Georgia. I was assured high-speed internet was available, but upon moving in, I discovered a stark difference between the urban and rural internet speeds. The rural connection was a fraction of what I was accustomed to, making basic tasks like uploading large files a significant challenge.This disparity highlighted the broader issue of how lack of access to high-speed internet impacts rural communities, from education to economic development. Motivated by this, I embarked on a mission to address the connectivity issues in underserved markets. Over the past ten years, I’ve spoken at numerous conferences, contributed to broadband legislation, and served as a subject matter expert, advising lawmakers and community leaders on solutions.Founding Paladin Wireless, I now focus on providing fixed wireless internet services to underserved rural residents in several Georgia Counties. At the core of my work remains the same curiosity and passion for technology that drove me as a child.
