Regional Skills Planning Lead - Highlands And Islands

I act as Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for a number of projects, including leading on the development of the Skills and Fair Work content of the outline and full business cases for Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, working with both the Scottish and UK Governments.Nationally, I manage a team of renewables skills managers who are responsible for informing and supporting strategic work through developing and maintain strong partnerships. I also have responsibilities for working with the Scottish Government and Industry in support of the rural economy.As a member of the SDS leadership team, I support the SDS chair at the Convention of the Highlands and Islands, chaired by the Deputy First Minister and attended by various Cabinet Secretaries, Ministers as well as and Local Authority CEO’s and chairs/leaders. Worked with the Vice Principal to develop and coordinate a coherent and effective regional response to the recommendation of ‘Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce’ and ‘Scotland’s Youth Employment Strategy’ through the establishment, promotion and effective operation of a regional work-based learning hub across the Highlands & Islands. The Hub established and supported a consistent approach to work based learning across the region and developed & delivered foundation and graduate apprenticeships and work based learning pathways.• lead on bringing together the UHI college network to successfully develop and deliver at vocational training at Further Education level . This involved establishing new FE subject teams from all colleges to work collaboratively and agree curriculum developments and delivery methodology. The hub built on the collaborative work of the Academic Partners at HE level which enhanced the offer within the region and provided new opportunities for over 100 young people.• Appointing regional subject leads from across the Highlands & Islands to coordinate Foundation Apprenticeship development activity and then developing a new UHI wide learning platform to share information. This Blackboard VLE was established and managed by newly appointed subject leads and is accessible to all partners, relevant staff and students.• Manage the contract with SDS for the development and delivery of Work Based Learning across 8 academic partners. I ensured that mechanisms were established to ensure compliance with the conditions of funding.• Led, developed and implemented a regional marketing and communications strategy that promoted the work of the regional hub /• Developed the first Graduate Level Apprenticeship programme in Scotland, with apprentices working towards a Higher Education Diploma, vocational qualification and professional recognition.
