Odyssey's mission is to disrupt the drug discovery biotech industry by going beyond the limitations of current medicine to fulfill the promise of precision medicine. Odyssey has developed proprietary tools for generative machine learning modeling that can be applied to the full lifecycle of drug discovery -- we target therapies for cancer and inflammatory diseases.I'm responsible for managing our scientific computing platform hosted in the AWS Cloud. After taking a couple of months off to focus on kids, family, health, and friends, I had a chance to reflect on what inspires me at work and what I need from a work-life balance. I started to deep dive into the disruption happening in the freelance consulting world. Companies such as UpWork, Toptal, Turning, and others, have created low friction marketplaces for consumers and providers of technology services. After dipping my toe in, I’m now hooked and have been blessed with some fantastic clients and exciting work.

I work closely with global Auto manufacturers, connected car partners, and marketing/bizdev to bring embedded Alexa features (connectivity, car feature control, navigation, infotainment) to the auto domain.

 Created demand generation program for Oracle Engineered Systems installed base. Transformed existing on-premise customers to Oracle Public/Private Cloud. Personally developed, piloted, and delivered to 20+ customers; trained team to rollout full-scale execution. Generated net-new wins of >$60 million.  Enablement: Developed 2-day core technology/product fundamentals “essentials” training curriculum. Delivered to over 200 Solution Architects at multiple locations nationwide.  Customer Care: Escalation leader for very complex (200TB) database migration from IBM to large Oracle Engineered Systems footprint ($7M). Quickly established Trusted Advisor status: technical expertise, account leadership, and internal/external executive reporting. Customer is top 5 Health Insurance provider.  Developed Solution Architect tracking and reporting tool (~300users) to increase organizational efficiency Responsible for development of global pre-sales Private Cloud initiative. Led distributed team to create content, deliver training, and execution of field engagements.  Founder of Visual AWR Project for visualizing Oracle database system performance trends and root cause analysis. As a thought leader and customer adviser, Steve influences customer leadership in acceptance of Oracle solutions and services to facilitate the closing large enterprise deals. Steve employs architecture based selling techniques to ensure proposals tightly align with business objectives. Architecture based selling includes: Business Architecture, Future State Visioning, Current, State, Future State, and Roadmaps with time phased transition states. This includes knowledge of competition and external factors that may influence Oracle's competitive position.

Stephen is a Practice Manager of the BPM/SOA practice at Oracle Consulting managing 36 senior middleware engineers. He has also personally lead strategic and tactical consulting initiatives in the areas of BPM/SOA and SOA/IT Governance at clients such as Pfizer, Ericsson, Best Buy, US Department of Labor, Harvard Medical, and NeuStar.

Held positions as product development manager and lead architect for suite of supply chain software products.Also lead the packaged application integration team. This team developed and certified packaged software integration solutions with Oracle eBusiness Suite, SAP, and BAAN.Team consisted of both local and offshore (Bangalore) resources. Required travel to India to implement and maintain offshore development processes.Accumulated extensive domain knowledge in supply chain management, manufacturing logistics, and ERP.Received highest review rating (4 out of 4) during annual reviews.

Purchased by JP Morgan in 2003. Vastera is a provider of import/export trade compliance/logistics software and services.
