Led the deal for Tech Coast Angels investment in Heart Health Intelligence (now Casana) and served on Board until Series A raise in July, 2020

As Principal Investigator of a small in-house study at Alere, my responsibility includes overseeing an INR blood analysis study for an Alere product.

At Rock West Medical Devices, as Senior Medical Advisor, my responsibilities include all medical aspects of the MoPill. The MoPill is an electronic pill that measures the transit of food through the body which is envisioned to help patients with problems such as chronic constipation, diarrhea, nausea and cramps.

The mission of Consuli was to automate diagnosis and enable patients the world over to access medical diagnoses 7/24. As CMO, my responsibilities have included overseeing all medical aspects of the programming, marketing and development of the product.

As CFO for a 14 emergency physician medical group, I was responsible for revenue cycle analysis including overseeing billing, insurance payor relations, accounts receivable and payroll. In addition, I was lead on all legal matters including medical malpractice, hospital contracts, and payor contracts.

In my 36 year career as a board certified Emergency Physician, I had the opportunity and privilege to treat a large number of patients in the Emergency Department/Trauma Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital - La Jolla. In addition to the clinical experience, there was administrative experience (Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine), financial/insurance experience (Chief Financial Officer for the group) and medical research experience (Chairman of an Institutional Review Board) and development of the CRAMS scale (see below).

Until First Opinion was acquired by Healthways in 2007, my involvement included building out the Bayesian analytic component of the automated diagnostic system as well as briefly acting as CFO.
