I am an economist and Governor of the National Development Fund of Saudi Arabia. Previously, I served as ranking Vice President of the Asian Development Bank, Deputy Director for Development Cooperation at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and Deputy Vice-President for Operations at the Millennium Challenge Corporation. I’ve also worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Refugee Program and as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. At NDF, I am responsible for building a new government entity that aims to raise the level of performance of funds and development banks across the Kingdom in order to enhance economic diversification and increase the sustainability of development financing. I also serve on a number of advisory boards, including the International Finance Forum, Bretton Woods Committee, China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Marine Stewardship Council, Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network, and the Global Footprint Network and am a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.I write regularly for leading publications on a variety of climate change and development-related issues, including Project Syndicate, The Wall Street Journal, The Hill, The Guardian and The Huffington Post.Finally, I am a son, brother, husband, dad and proud, if somewhat wayward, Vermonter.
