I am the lead Systems Engineer supporting a global web application run from multiple data centers in the US and Canada. In this role I support over 100 servers running Windows 2003 and 2008 with IIS. I’ve helped design and test DR environments, and I work closely with hosting providers to coordinate maintenance, server expansions, and hardware refreshes.

I manage over 90 Microsoft Windows servers (Dell, Compaq, and VMware) running NT, 2000, 2003, and 2008 in a multi-domain environment. I designed and implemented a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory domain, and I am migrating all of our servers into it. I use DirXML to synchronize accounts between Active Directory and Novell’s eDirectory. I also support our SQL Cluster, manage the EMC CLARiiON SAN (including the FC fabric), and manage our VMWare environment.

I provided technical support for over 800 Windows XP PCs, several Citrix clients, and 70 Compaq and Dell servers running Windows Server 200X in a very large Active Directory, multi-domain environment. My team was responsible for user/group/computer account creation and configuration in Active Directory, and we also troubleshot connectivity issues in our layer 3 switched network. I was the lead Altiris Administrator, and I was also involved in the city-wide implementation of SMS 2003. I also was exposed to some Citrix administration, and I helped resolve Citrix client connectivity issues.

I single-handedly managed all aspects of Rail Europe’s computer network in Boulder. I designed and oversaw the network upgrade from a LAT serial connection infrastructure to a much larger Ethernet network using CAT5 cabling and 3COM and HP switches. During this upgrade, I supervised some contract employees and negotiated/coordinated with various vendors to complete everything in a timely manner with minimal impact on productivity. I managed a Novell NetWare 5.0 server (which I upgraded from NetWare 3.12), 3 Windows NT 4.0 servers (DHCP, Exchange, and Antivirus) and 180 workstations running Windows 95/98/NT/2000. I also maintained the WAN connectivity between our office and the corporate offices in New York, and helped with the implementation of Cisco routers and a PIX firewall.*I started with Rail Europe as a Technical Specialist with TEKsystems.

I performed computer services at IBM such as desktop support and network administration. I worked with Windows NT Server, OS/2 LAN Server, NetWare, TCP/IP, and Windows 95.I worked for IBM Global Services providing desktop support and maintaining LAN connectivity. The Boulder division of IBM uses a Token Ring network with both OS/2 LAN Server and Windows NT 4.0 servers running TCP/IP and NetBEUI. I provided desktop support and maintained Windows NT / NetWare connectivity at CIBER’s corporate office. I was also responsible to load and configure both desktop and laptop computers to be sent to other locations. I performed 2nd level desktop support for IBM Global Services at Southern Pacific. I was part of a team of six people responsible for providing software support and maintaining LAN connectivity for over 600 people utilizing various versions of Windows and OS/2.

I was solely responsible to maintain the Novell NetWare 4.1 LAN file system and infrastructure; troubleshoot and upgrade all hardware and software; install, configure, and repair all ninety networked computers; train users to use DOS/Windows and application software; evaluate/implement new software and hardware; execute all backup and restore operations; advise management of potential problems, and recommend the appropriate precautions and upgrades.
