Support tasks include the building and configurations of the automated Oracle Linux Virtual machines using Foreman and Puppet, as well as maintenance of the associated Oracle Spacial database, Oracle WebLogic servers, OneSpatial generalisation, validation and editing tools, FME Desktop and Server workbenches and ArcGIS server.Automation of as many tasks as possible. I’ve taken on several tasks to automate tedious or time consuming tasks such as database data validation, startup and shutdown of WebLogic servers, creation of SSH keys and user accounts. On certain Friday mornings each month I help record the local news so that it can be distributed to the blind and partially sighted within the Hampshire and Dorset area. With magazines out the door on a regular basis, designers, editors and writers can't afford downtime or issues so I'm there to fix them. I'm also there to keep the printer in tip-top condition, making sure it's always full of paper and toner, as well as calibrating it for accurate colours. I have also helped find and roll out a new WordPress based support ticket system, and help automate the new starter computer rollout by creating OS X user templates, and creating UNIX command templates to set default printers and install other software. Another ongoing project is to help automate as many tasks as possible, such as the moving of content from one server to another using MV, changing the owner of the files using CHMOD and copying of files between servers using RSYNC. These vary from showing users how to use the printers and scanners to creating email accounts. During my internship at Triggertrap, we spent 14 weeks on the Microsoft Ventures London Accelerator programme which aims to help startup companies, like Triggertrap, improve their success in the technology industry.
