After recognizing the need for safer infant and toddler seating in restaurants, I proceeded to invent and patent a dual-purpose highchair that accommodates all major brands of infant carriers and converts to accommodate toddlers. I also recognized a secondary market for the highchair product by developing a foldable version for parents to easily bring when camping, picnicking, tailgating, or other uses for a portable highchair. Wearing many hats as the product manager, I was the driving force behind the success of this 17 year business venture and its many details requiring dedication, persistence, and most importantly, effective communication with various professionals, including: patent attorneys, engineers, domestic and global manufacturers, executives with competitive products, small business owners, and consumers. Part of my sales, marketing, and branding strategy included logo and collateral design and production, website content, product photography and editing, and writing bi-monthly press releases. I sold the US patent for this dual-purpose highchair.
