HILTech Developments was a research and development, consultancy and engineering services company specialising in leading-edge electric vehicle technologies.My role was forming business strategy and technology development plans, identifying and securing new business for the company.

I worked for DSD on a part time consultancy basis to identify new business opportunities, working with new customers to develop proposals for projects which delivered excellent results.

I joined Caparo Vehicle Technologies when it was a start-up company. CVT existed to work with OEMs to deliver low carbon vehicles by means of cost effective, lightweight composite structures.I recruited and managed a team of engineers as well as carrying out business development activities, programme management, budgeting, forecasting and tendering. The projects that I worked on at CVT included the TSB (Technology Strategy Board) Limo Green hybrid vehicle project; a military vehicle with a lightweight structural armour system and the companies own flagship project - the Caparo T1 Supercar.

Initially in the Research Department as a Project Engineer, developing active chassis systems including two channel Active Roll Control, Variable Dampers and Electronic Differential (eDiff) projects. I was Team Leader, overseeing the simulation, testing, project management and business case generation whilst regularly reporting progress to Senior Management. It was also my responsibility to specify, build and test prototype vehicles for the IVDC (Integrated Vehicle Dynamics & Control) and eDiff projects.I subsequently moved into a delivery role in the Transmissions and Driveline Department, to take the eDiff technology through to successful launch. The technology was extremely well received by the automotive press when launched in 2009.

I was a Senior Engineer, working on the development of the first BMW Mini steering. I performed both a design function and a lead role in a multifunctional programme team, which delivered a robust, profitable design into production. Key activities in this role included technical liaison with the customer and suppliers, DVP+R (Design Verification Planning & Reporting), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis), VA/VE (Value Added, Value Engineering), the crash development programme and the supervision of junior and contract CAD engineers.

Following a period of graduate training, I worked as a Design and Development Engineer in the ‘Operator Environment’ group who were responsible for the cab structure, trim, air conditioning and fuel tanks of agricultural machines. My role entailed both design changes on existing products and completely new projects.
