Sheridan Data Widgets controls used for grid handling of data on VB screens. Data access used ODBC pass through to DB2/2 and Host DB2 databases. Designed and built backend system to provide services for GUI, Batch, and online requestors. System took data feeds from CML and third party servicer systems, cleansed and stored data in DB2, and then rolled up data into defined data marts / OLAP databases for CML decision support systems. Client tools included Cognos and EIS applications.Wrote a standalone VB/ACCESS application for Financial Sales to support broker leads (Broker Leads Work Station) - a facility for sales staff to keep track of telephone data of prospective brokers.Project leader for CML's Modified Endowment Contract (MEC) system. Worked closely with Regulatory Services, CML's Enterprise architects, Cycle, and various legacy systems. With a team of in-house and consultant programmers developed the MEC system utilizing Visual Basic Gui front ends, MDI Gateway, CICS remote stored procedures, and DB2 as our data server. Persuaded management into investing in a LAN based strategy for development, utilizing Microfocus Cobol, CICS-OS/2, and Database Manager, to speed the development cycle and keep HOST costs down.Brought in a systematic approach to developing online systems using PC based tools and large monitors. This allowed customers to participate in the development of their system. Assisted, from the host side, the initial use of MDI Gateway, an interface between the WAN and the host environment. Wrote and tested Remote Stored Procedures (RSPs) - online programs called by PC front-end applications which executed on the host and returned result sets to the application. Designed and coded a default collection system utilizing CICS written in COBOL II with embedded SQL. CICS programs used Dbugaid for debugging; SPUFI and QMF were used to test SQL code and input data into tables. QMF was used by users for ad hoc reporting. BMS Mapping was used for developing online screens. Telon was used in the design phase to develop online screens for initial review and signoff by customers.Participated in modeling sessions that shaped and normalized the systems' DB2 tables. I was responsible for site installation and connectivity, and provided a method by which remote sites could test online applications during the test phase. The system had 29 tables, 46 CICS programs, 15 batch programs.Helped develop a system to facilitate the handling of mail sent to our payment processing center. Project involved image scanners and image file storage, using PC to CICS communication to access and retrieve host system data. The application on the PC side is written in Microfocus Cobol with Btrieve as the database.
