About Stephen Thomas

I am a campaigner, policy analyst and engineer with a decade of experience working on the just transition to a carbon-free future. I work to support organizations with bold campaigns and policy interventions for key energy and climate issues across Canada.I'm currently the Clean Energy Manager with the David Suzuki Foundation, working with a great team to build public support and provide strong policy recommendations toward achieving the goal of 100% zero-emissions electricity across Canada by 2035. From 2016 to 2020, I was the Energy Campaign Coordinator with the Ecology Action Centre - Atlantic Canada's largest environmental organization. I led campaigns to strengthen climate action, leave fossil fuels in the ground, and leave no one behind in the transition to climate solutions. I have experience in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors in Canada. My past work supported a development portfolio of over 200MW of community-led renewable energy projects across North America.I am active in a number of national and local climate justice organizations. I'm committed to working collaboratively toward Indigenous rights, climate action, and a just transition for workers and communities.
