After two months of working at Alarmtech as a technician, my skills were quickly re-deployed to the position of Operations Coordinator/ Project Manager. I oversee a team of 5 technicians, various subcontractors, subtrades and have a fundamental say in how the business day-to-day activities are run. This job is far reaching, touching almost every department and decision that is being made for the betterment of the company. I have worked closely in the finance and service departments as well as running my own department and having management meetings/interviews regarding HR and new hires. I coordinate meetings with our dealer representatives from Honeywell, Resideo, Inaxsys as well as previous dealers. I maintain a working relationship with all dealer representatives and coordinate sales training for our sales team. I oversee purchasing as well as costing evaluations. Some special projects I spearheaded are as follows:• Continuing the migration to a new service/invoicing/customer management program• Changing vendors for better pricing• Proposing and implementing a robust Health and Safety Program• Job costing matrix with the emphasis on profitability• Solutions to overages with labour / changing cost vs labour ratio on proposed jobs• Streamlining of closeoff procedures for work orders• Implementing an inventory control module• Overseeing the transition to a work-from-home platform due to COVID-19• COVID-19 response from a health and safety standpoint• WSIB Health and Safety Excellence program lead – working to develop a safer workplace through collaborative change
