About Stephen Lead

I am a software developer, specialising in geo-spatial applications including web-mapping and desktop geographic information systems tools.I'm an experienced ArcGIS developer, with thousands of hours of experience in programming and customising ArcGIS Server's JavaScript API. This includes user interface, user experience and back-end ArcGIS API functionality, from simple sites through to complex stand-alone mapping applications.I've spent a lot of time doing pre-sales work including benchmarks, demos and large presentations, before audiences of technical experts, senior management and general users.More recently I've specialised in user experience enhancements to large and complex web-mapping sites, writing software which makes it much easier for non-expert users to navigate through the complexity. In my spare time I am the organiser of IgniteSydney, a quarterly presentation evening consisting of multiple speakers each giving a 5 minute lightning presentation. I'm solely responsible to every aspect of IgniteSydney, which includes booking the venue, finding 15+ speakers, coaching them on how to give an effective lightning presentation, selling tickets, and actually hosting the event on the night.I'm also on the organising committee for many other tech events including the GeoNext conference, the GeoRabble meetup group, and am a regular MC at the Web Directions conferences.Specialties: - front-end web development in HTML, CSS and JavaScript- Full Extent's Web Mapping Framework, including customisations and configuration (see http://www.FullExtent.com.au)- ArcGIS Server and the JavaScript API- Esri GeoPortal Server customisations, including ground-up re-builds (see http://GeoPortalGenie.com)- ArcGIS Desktop expert, including all extension products- Customisations to the user interface to improve workflows- Programming in Python and Visual Studio .Net- Public speaking and presentation advice
