Summer Research Intern
- Conducted research under the guidance of Dr. Peter Williamson in the Translational Mycology Section, focusing on the pathophysiology and treatment of cryptococcosis.- Analyzed genomic and electronic health record (EHR) data using the All of Us Research Program database to identify genetic variants that could explain the susceptibility of previously healthy individuals to cryptococcosis.- Performed spot-plating assays to determine the identities of novel proteins in 𝘊𝘳𝘺𝘱𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘴 species that are believed to be involved in host-pathogen interactions, with hopes to further understand the disease mechanisms.- Collaborated closely with lab members and mentors, gaining experience in both wet-lab and dry-lab techniques, and developing a strong foundation in bioinformatics and microbiology research.
