About Stephen S. Mabry
In 1989, Stephen Mabry was offered two different positions in the Texas Hill Country, but felt a special call to the mission of the Texas Lions Camp. Consequently, Stephen joined the seasonal staff of the Texas Lions Camp in the summer of 1989 as the Summer Horsemanship Director. In 1990, Stephen was invited to join the Camp’s professional staff as ranch manager, where he developed the Camp’s therapeutic riding program to include more than 100 students, in addition to the summer camp’s riding program. Stephen was later promoted to asst. program director in 1992, and in 1994 became the program director. In August of 1995, Stephen was hired as the organization’s executive director where he served for 14 years, until being appointed as Texas Lions Camp’s first Chief Executive Officer in February of 2010. In the past decade, TLC has expanded its service base to include a robust leasing program that includes: the American Cancer Society, University of Texas Band, Texas Burn Survivors, and the Texas A&M Extension Service just to name a few. Most recently, TLC added a camp for children who have Down syndrome, further expanding TLC’s outreach to children with special medical conditions.Stephen is a 1990 graduate of Texas A&M University, and is married to Shawn Mabry, who also graduated from A&M. Stephen and Shawn have two daughters and one son who have all participated in the family life’s mission of next-leveling Texas Lions Camp. In the past, Stephen has held certifications including: CAE, CFRE, Ropes Course, CPR/First Aid, Cheff Center Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Advanced Western Horseman Instructor and Intermediate English/Equitation Instructor certifications.
