Stephen MacCracken has been a licensed Architect in the State of California since 1984. He studied art history and fine arts at the University of California at Davis under Wayne Thiebaud, Roy De forest and Robert Arneson. After extensive travel in Europe and Eastern Europe he continued his education in Environmental Design, Interior Architecture at California College of Arts and Crafts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Environmental Design with distinction in 1979.He is the principal and owner of MacCracken Architects, founded in 1984 and has been nationally and internationally recognized for his contributions to the built environment in numerous publications. In addition to managing the firm of MacCracken Architects, which has produced award winning designs in retail, residential and commercial interiors, he has been actively involved in the architectural education community in the Bay Area. He has been an interior design professor for the Arts and Humanities Department at San Jose State University from 1986 to 2011 and adjunct professor of interior architecture for the California College of the Arts from 1994 to 1996. Stephen continues as an occasional visiting lecturer at SJSU. He has served as a member for the Architectural Advisory Committee for City College of San Francisco and has been active as an advisor to the National Council for Interior Design Qualification.
