I help people accomplish things every day. I give patrons the answers they’re looking for and the skills they need to succeed on their own. As an information professional, I help bridge the divide between people’s current knowledge base and their identified goals. Some days this is simple - helping someone with formatting a letter in word or converting a scanned document back into editable text. Other days, it’s more involved - like delivering a presentation on Confirmation Bias and Information Literacy. Whether working directly with a patron or creating instructional content, I always strive to meet the information needs of my audience with approachability and thoroughness.My background is in customer service and tutoring, which shaped my approach to my current profession. My very first job was at Chick-fil-a, which emphasized customer satisfaction above all else. This is where I learned to always meet challenging situations with a solution and a smile. In college, I worked for the academic success center, providing history tutoring services for other students. This taught me how to assess the individual needs of who I was working with, and the importance of patience and thoroughness when identifying the root cause of your client’s needs.Beyond helping clients and customers, I am also dedicated to working for the betterment of my organization and coworkers. I’m a go-to project leader: I’ve managed the branch-level implementation of the classification update for a library section that included over 10,000 items, reorganized and standardized the file system for a hotel management company of over 30 properties, and more. If something needs to be done to better provide information, I’m there to help.
