Stephen Michon leads Boston Fed work focused on inclusive economic growth and civic leadership, including the Fed’s Working Communities Challenge in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine and the Fed's newest effort focused on capital investment strategies called Inclusive Economies. Stephen most recently served as principal/owner of FutureWorks, a national consulting firm that led strategic planning, national learning networks, and applied economic analysis for regional economic development in rural areas, small cities, and metro regions. He led high-impact efforts in 23 states and more than 75 communities during his time at FutureWorks. Earlier, he worked in a series of positions with Mt. Auburn Associates leading industry cluster strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation strategy, and regional development across the country that connects economic opportunity to residents. Stephen is a former two-term state legislator in New Hampshire and prior to his economic development work he held senior positions in two community-based housing organizations. He has volunteered his time in a variety of leadership capacities, including chair of the Nashua Rail Committee, former national advisor to the Talent Dividend Network, and long-time member of the Greater Nashua Revolving Loan Fund. Organizations such as the Aspen Institute, National Fund for Workforce Solutions, and Association of Chamber Executives have published his analysis and research.
