Stephen M. Miller is a tenured Professor of Economics in the Lee Business School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to that, he was Professor of Economics and Department Head at the University of Connecticut. He received higher education training at Purdue University, receiving his bachelor's degree with distinction in Engineering Sciences Engineering (a part of the Aeronautical Engineering School), and at the State University of New York at Buffalo, receiving his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics. He became a faculty member at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in July 2001, having retired from the University of Connecticut in June 2001 after 31 years of service. He also held visiting positions with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for 5 months in 1978 and with the Congressional Budget Office for 12 months in 1987-88. His research interests span monetary, macroeconomic, and international finance theory and policy; international trade and applied microeconomic theory; financial institutions; and real estate lending. He has authored of more than 180 professional journal articles. He has presented papers at professional conferences, universities, and other venues on more than 150 occasions. He appeared in Who’s Who in Economics, 4th edition by Blaug and Vane, Edward Elgar Publishing, 2003. This listing of economists includes the 1,200 most frequently cited economists from 1990 to 2000, using the Social Science Citation Index. He has served as a co-editor or an editorial board member on a number of professional journals. In addition, he frequently reviewed submissions of research papers, having reviewed nearly 850 research papers for over 140 different professional journals.
