I was assigned Naval Recruiting Station (NRS) Portland Maine as recruiter in Aug 1992. Then I was recognized as the Rookie Recruiter of the quarter 1st quarter on production ranking 1 of 300 recruiter assigned. As a result I was subsequently advanced to the position of Recruiter in Charge (RINC) of NRS Portland. While I was severing as RINC of NRS Portland lead station to number 1 of 60 stations through out all of New England. Then I was assigned Zone 1 Supervisor in charge 6 offices 19 recruiters’ encompassing the entire state of Maine. Lead my team to be ranked 1 of 9 Zones at Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Boston whose territory included all of New England and Europe.At the request of the Commanding Officer accepted a mid year transfer to Zone 5, metropolitan area of Boston. With in 6 months Zone 5 was awarded Zone Of the quarter for all of Area moving it’s ranking from 34 of 34 to 1 of 34. I was then assigned as District Trainer for all of New England over 60 offices and 300 recruiters. That year NRD New England was ranked the number 1 recruiting district in the nation. National inspection team sited NRD New England as having the best systems in the country.

First enlisted member ever to be qualified as a “Shooter” for Catapult Test team trials in naval history. Served on Pre Commissioning crew and stayed on till return from Gulf War in 1992. I supervised a crew of 50 plus in the safe operation of two C-13 Mode 2 steam catapults. We attained a 98.7 present availability rate with perfect safety record. In what is recognized as one of the toughest jobs and most dangerous careers in the navy. I was ranked 1 of 9 Chief in V-2 Division and 2 of 38 chiefs in air department. Hand selected by Commanding Officer for appointment to Navy Career Recruiting Force (CRF). About ABE: Operates and maintains hydraulic and steam catapults, barricades, and arresting gear; operates catapult launch, retract panels, consoles, firing panels, water brakes, chronographs, blast deflectors, and cooling panels; inspects and proof-loads cables, fittings, and wire rope socket. Supervises the use, filing, and maintenance of publications and records; screens defective components for repair; inspects and evaluates operation of repaired equipment; monitors quality assurance program; prepares quarterly schedules of preventive maintenance; supervises the inventory of spare parts and equipment.
