In my current role, I am actively involved in application development in a managerial, development and architectural capacity. By focusing on innovation and enabling initiatives, my team has matured and provides tangible results with high levels of due diligence, and strong governance. Running an internal native mobile initiative, my department and I have travelled extensively in the US, Asia and Europe and enabled its succesful implementation of which I am particularly proud. On returning to UBM my duties consisted of formulating an on-shoring strategy and approach, developing the business case, recruitment and allocation of budget for the purchasing of KT, Hardware, Software and Resourcing. After the Start-Up phase the newly formed development department commenced a systematic handover of the 160 websites and 35 bespoke applications in the AVM portfolio, alongside the development of several important projects and the ITIL processes involved in providing 3rd level support. Following this process, I focused the team on to providing innovation and have driven a mobile-first mindset.My day to day responsibilities include Management of internal development resources and external offshore resources. I am also responsible for performing QA procedures across the department, reviews, implementing best practices, working with the PMO and projects departments in the role of PM and Team Manager, RFP procedures, budgeting and system development in C#, Html5, Asp.Net, Java ADK, Xamirin, Phonegap, Javascript and Objective-C.

At Sagittarius Marketing my role of Web Team Manager involved the development, design, support and tendering of bespoke .NET solutions. Catering for multiple clients, I worked very closely with account managers and project management teams to ensure delivered projects were cost efficient, to schedule and functionally accurate. My role involved external client facing activities, such as pitches and technical requirement meetings as well as internal activities such as application development, functional specification, recruitment, quality assurance procedures, site design and SEO.As Web Team manager, I controlled the methodology and approach the development team (5 developers) implemented to deliver technical solutions. I also oversaw and managed outsourced development to third parties and reported directly to the company’s directors reporting on team productivity, costs and strategic recommendations for current and future developments.

As a Web Development Manager my primary responsibility was to aid and advise the business, and work with project managers to ensure the successful and smooth delivery of web based solutions. Running a small team of 3 developers and 2 designers, I facilitated the company’s transition into obtaining a greater market share of their online presence via techniques such as SEO, Content Analysis, Web Analytics, Security Auditing, Usability studies, Social networking integration and mail out campaigns. The main website offering I was responsible for had a unique visitor base of around 300,000 and generated around 5 million page impressions per month. Working closely with Marketing, Commercial and Editorial teams, I provided an essential role in enabling the business to successfully deliver initiatives, as quickly and professionally as possible. I took great pride in my team and believe passionately about the importance of great design and technology in producing a superb end user experience. As a contract web developer I was brought in to rectify faults, and address serious flaws in the main web offering on the Kent Messenger group. After I completed normalizing the backend SQL database and redesigning sections of the website, I was then tasked with creating promotions, competitions, landing pages and eventually became responsible for in-house web and application development.
