I worked as part of a team of expert genealogists who supplement the National Library of Ireland's permanent staff in providing the Genealogy Advisory Service.The service provides one-to-one consultations with members of the public that are seeking advice and information in relation to genealogy and family history matters.This involves using my expertise and knowledge to help guide others in their research projects.I have also provided this service in the Irish Family History Centre in the CHQ Building, The Gilbert Library (Pearse Street) as part of Heritage Week, and also at the RTÉ Road to the Rising event held in the GPO in April 2015.Key skills: Clear Communication, Customer Service, Discretion, Teaching, Teamwork.

I was responsible for correcting transcription errors in the online versions of the 1901 and 1911 Censuses available on the National Archives of Ireland website (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie), based on public submissions.A key task within the role was the creation of a corrections process policy and supporting documentation. The process and policy document I created were used by the National Archives of Ireland in 2018 as part of the tendering process for furthering this project.The role demanded high attention to detail to ensure the website corrections were accurately inputted into the relevant MS Access database.My management of the project, which included negotiating changes with supervisors, meant that targets regarding number of corrections were greatly exceeded. My primary role was as a member of the software testing team working to ensure that the company's software functioned correctly on credit card terminals. This involved testing of software based on relevant test scripts.I acted as Project Manager on the roll-out of 500 terminals into the live environment. This included the creation of user manuals and instructions for clients.Clear communication with the software development team regarding changes required to ensure the correct functioning of the software, before it was released to clients in the live environment. Updating the Excel bug-reporting database to ensure identified issues were dealt with by the software development team.Prioritising projects based on timelines provided by clients and management.Regular reporting to Development Manager on status of testing and updating of Excel release database.Key skills: Software Testing, Project Management, Document Creation, Document Design, Communication, Teamwork, Database Management, Time Management.
