To lead HorseWorld’s strategy of providing excellent stewardship to our supporters, brand and IP assets, whilst also promoting the core aims and achievements of HorseWorld Trust. Build loyalty and maximise income potential, with specific leadership responsibility for supporter journey mapping, design and transformation.
Bristol, United Kingdom
HorseWorld Trust is going through a significant period of transformation. I am responsible for developing and implementing the Fundraising Strategy (including the associated PR & Communications Strategy) and for achieving the organisation’s fundraising goals, communicating with supporters, stakeholders and partners. This includes the continuing development of new and existing key relationships and contacts and the management of the Fundraising & Communications teams at the charity’s head office in Whitchurch, Bristol.

I supported HorseWorld's strategy to increase voluntary income for the charity through effective campaigning, fundraising, communications and PR, whilst promoting the core aims of the charity.Additionally, I worked on raising awareness of HorseWorld’s Discovery courses. Discovery is now recognised as an alternative education provider for Bristol and surrounding areas. Our fundraising success has led to us being able to offer many fully, or partly subsidised courses, to those schools and individuals who are most in need and least able to afford them. In 2019 I led the #BreakTheChain national campaign designed to alter the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and make it a statutory duty for Local Authorities to employ Animal Welfare Inspectors. Working alongside MP Luke Hall, we wrote the 'Horse Tethering' speech he delivered for the Adjournment debate in the House of Commons Parliament 20 Feb 2019. This resulted in DEFRA Ministers calling for a Round Table Meeting at the Home Office to discuss the matter further. I helped to construct the agenda and guest list for the meeting and to personally attend.

Using my experience of rebranding, event management and deregulation of the electricity markets in the utility sector I began my freelance career. Whilst my first client was in fact my most recent employer (EDF), my association with BB&P led to work with Cable & Wireless on a new product launch; a rebranding project with the Cayman National Bank and a co-branding project with Aon Insurance. This was followed by a variety of clients in the hotel and leisure, construction, education and legal industries before moving into the Third Sector.
Whitchurch, Bristol
I worked on a freelance-basis as part of the Senior Management Team on a number of key projects for HorseWorld to raise awareness for this Whitchurch-based equine charity. My concept and delivery of 'The Trail of Painted Ponies' project celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the charity in 2012, led to the award of The Bristol Post 'Communicator of the Year' Business award. I also successfully delivered strategies covering:• Marketing & Advertising• Brand refresh• PR and Communications• Event management• Stakeholder development (facilitated closer working relationships with local and regional businesses; other visitor attractions and charities; Destination Bristol and Bath Tourism Plus.)• Fundraising• Social media and website.

Project managed the title sponsorship of the “SWEB Energy Bristol Harbour Festival” and increased brand awareness from 54% to 79% through advertising, press and PR and radio promotions, liaised with all external agencies and suppliers, and the local council. Managed SWEB/EDF event presence at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and The Royal Bath & West Show(s).Influenced advantageous sponsorship deal with South West Business Challenge committee which provided EDF Energy with high profile PR and customer acquisition opportunities. Project managed the redesign and re-branding of the SWEB website and worked on Press and TV advertising whilst acting as brand ambassador and reinforcing the “re-branding” through the development and introduction of "new-look" residential and business customer magazines.
