President, Vice President
As President of H. Inc, I engage my 10+ years of executive management experience to develop and drive the business’ evolving strategic plans and initiatives, ensuring we’re able to maintain strong revenue growth while consistently holding or reducing our operating expenses. To help drive that success, I conceive of and refine company policies/procedures (financial, human resources, life/safety, etc.), directing related legal compliance as appropriate. The real estate portfolio I oversee is diverse, comprised of 5 independent companies, 150,000+ square feet of commercial office space, and 140 premier multi-family residential units. I’m proud to have had a hand in helping to set and reach ambitious occupancy and revenue goals during my time with the company— including in times of challenging market realities. I develop 1-2 finance packages annually, negotiating complex loans to close and maintaining compliance for deals exceeding $26 million in value. My role also requires me to respond to frequent development RFPs aimed at attracting new commercial tenants, strategically tailoring budgets, project plans, and leases to appeal to unique client and investor needs. I capture all of this in regular portfolio performance reviews and comprehensive investor reports for regular presentation to multiple audiences. As we land new tenants, I manage all build-outs, which includes establishing budgets, contracts, and schedules, designing architectural schemes, coordinating contracted professionals and skilled trades, and performing regular site quality checks and inspections. Finally, I’m responsible for training, supervising, and motivating 5-10 staff members (interns, seasonal help, full-time employees), conducting regular goal-setting meetings, performance reviews, and individualized professional development plans.
Legislative Director, Office Of Rep. Marc Corriveau (20Th District)
During my time in the Michigan House of Representatives I served as Rep. Corriveau’s chief political and policy advisor, managing and advancing his robust policy agenda. My role offered me the chance to work closely on the conception, composition, introduction, and advancement of an array of legislation; we developed dozes of our own initiatives and collaborated on hundreds of co-sponsored bills. Highlights included seeing the adoption of a bill to strengthen Michigan’s drunk driving laws and establish treatment-based DUI Courts that leverage technology and positive oversight to improve outcomes. Rep. Corriveau relied on me to support him in his role as Majority Chair of the House’s Ethics and Elections Committee, where I planned and executed weekly committee hearings and had a seat at the table in developing the committee’s overall policy priorities and political strategy. We relied heavily on cultivating and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders— everyone from government and business leaders to lobbyists, activists, and community members. My ability to effectively present and then rally decision-makers around issues continues to serve me to this day. I also led our office’s investigation of and response to a variety of constituent concerns, coordinated our carefully-crafted public relations efforts (we were in an extremely competitive legislative district), and recruited, trained, and oversaw the professional development of our student interns.
Campaign Manager
When she launched her race for the Michigan House, then-candidate Joan Bauer entered a highly competitive, 6-way primary in Michigan’s 68th District (Lansing). As her Campaign Manager I was responsible for our team’s political strategy and developing/implementing our vigorous field plan. Through relationship-building with influential community leaders and folks who’d supported Joan over the years, I was able to recruit and manage an extensive group of regular volunteers for our daily canvassing efforts, direct mail execution, and phone bank activity. We worked nearly around-the-clock, seven days a week throughout the community to actualize our ambitious GOTV program. I also ran a strong campaign fundraising plan that exceeded $50,000, helped earn Joan numerous endorsements (by prepping her for regular debate participation and completion of nearly 100 written candidate questionnaires), and oversaw our communications strategy (including developing direct mail pieces, building and maintaining our website, producing a weekly e-newsletter aimed at engaging voters, and running our social media channels). Given the diversity of our district, we very intentionally tailored our communication to a variety of audiences, successfully rallying them around Joan’s candidacy.
