I am part of Fircroft's 18 month International Graduate Scheme. Here I have gained valuable experience working across the business, starting within the Oil & Gas sector. Here I held a primary role supplying high quality Engineering professionals to a number of Global Operators before spending time in the following departments:- HSE- Logistics- Process Improvement- Payroll- Credit Control- Invoicing- Accounts & Finance - Global Accounts- Recruitment - Petrochemical: Project Startup (Based in Teesside Satellite office - 7 month placement) Rotating throughout the business enabled me to develop my understanding of Fircroft & to appreciate the link between each department which is vital to the continued growth & success of the business.For the last 11 months, I have been heavily involved with the start up and structuring of a new business unit working with a leading JV Petrochemical Company based in Saudi Arabia. After running three successful recruitment campaigns across the UK, I have played a major part in creating and building the team of global search specialists and Consultants. My role as Division Team Lead Involves leading all aspects of recruitment across Operations and EH&S working directly with the client to supply high quality Chemical Manufacturing professionals across UK, Europe, USA & the Far East.

Position: ManagerAt Fishers Jewellers (Bootle) Limited I occupied a Senior Managerial position responsible for several duties within the store. As a primary key holder I was responsible for the safe opening and closing of the shop premises, supervision and managing of staff and adhering to the company’s values of delivering excellent customer service. I was responsible in most instances for the purchasing and selling of Jewellery including Gold, Silver, watches and Non Jewellery items. Additionally I engaged in meetings with sales representatives when buying new stock, repairing Jewellery and part of my day to day roles included providing advice in person and via the telephone to customers. I was responsible for the marketing and branding of stock as well as the design and maintenance of stock, window displays and store fabrication. The role required me to conduct the training of staff members through knowledge of the hallmarking system, Diamond and Gemological classifications, Cheque Cashing and Pawn Broking and training related to money laundering laws and ethics.Further day to day duties included the cleaning of jewellery, pricing, stock taking, Cashing up, Staff Rota control, filing, Monitoring of cash and cash flow, invoicing and daily reporting.

Initially what was supposed to be a two week placement turned into 3+ months as part of my Planning in Practice Placement which accounted towards achieving a Masters of Town and Regional Planning (MPLAN, Hons) Degree at the University of Liverpool.My role involved the general shadowing of the daily work carried out by Senior Planning Officers within the Public Sector. Activities mainly involved handling and reviewing inward planning applications and determining the facts and details of them to later build up a case and produce a report to either grant or refuse planning permission and deliver a justified outcome.I assisted in the R&D process of Sefton's Green Belt Plan and Core Strategy by participating in various community engagement exercises. I attended many site visits, community involvment workshops, planning appeals and committee meetings and provided pre application planning advice to several members of the public around the subject of Green Belts and wider planning. The Placement was a huge success and in the portfolio that I completed as part of my assessment I gained a First Class distinction (75%)
