I have 37 years experience as an educator for the Council Rock School District. Sixteen years teaching fifth grade, two years teaching second grade, and nineteen years as an Elementary Math/Technology Integration Specialist. During my time in CR, I presented workshops at the local, county (BCIU #22), and national (NCTM) levels on the topic of differentiation in the mathematics classroom. I was also the technology integration specialist for my building, providing support to teachers in bringing technology to their classrooms. I retired from CR in 2009. I am currently an educational consultant for the NJTL of Trenton and the USTA Foundation. I am part of the curriculum development team at the NJTL of Trenton. We have created an after school/summer curriculum, Academic Creative Engagement (ACE), with tennis as its theme. The USTAF has purchased ACE and we are now training NJTL chapters across the country. ACE is unique, as it focuses on building social/emotional skills in students in grades 3-6. ACE raises students, not just test scores.During the Covid period, I assisted in the development and implementation of a program consisting of Minecraft Education and ZOOM to keep our at risk students engaged. This program utilizes high school mentors and a highly trained educator to deliver an engaging program using the ACE model. Mentors are learning leadership skills and our elementary age participants are learning to work together and share their voice in this problem solving endeavor.
