Specifically I reviewed candidate technologies and performed technical prototype implementations for semantic topic maps, hadoop-friendly recommendation engines, and feature-scoring rule engines.Prototyped a set of rules for the open source Drools rules engine that queried a travel vendor API for hotel item details in response to a query. Furthermore I evaluated and prototyped a third party API that performed intelligent query parameter extraction from natural English when booking travel.Explored the sorts of friendly intelligent dialog the virtual concierge should have with human users. Evaluated voice recognition, text to speech, and dialog processing options for mobile devices.

Wrote financial accounting core and was responsible for 30 DB2 tables having hundreds of millions of rows, out of a system of over 500 tables. Designed and reviewed numerous SQL statements in mainframe environment. Sophisticated batch system consisted of up to ten parallel tasks at each step of evening processing. Database tables were laid out so that account number ranges, the primary key, were processed in parallel without locking delays and with optimal disk storage physical arrangement.Supervised CIS II batch maintenance. Programmed the billing system supplied to several client wireline telephone companies. Assisted with programming for pager and cellular billing systems. The company's mainframe computer system processed about half of the total cellular telephone bills in the USA at the time. I enjoyed troubleshooting and was one of the few staff encouraged to work paid overtime when customer crises arose.
