A key part of this role was overseeing product strategy, supply chain efficiency, and pricing models to support the diverse needs of schools and universities. In addition to my category management responsibilities, I helped design a groundbreaking textbook ordering system, creating predictive equations and logic that enabled us to forecast demand months in advance. My leadership attracted a loyal team and drove impressive sales growth.I was entrusted with overseeing the build-out and managing daily operations in this key educational retail hub, a flagship destination store within a brand-new retail complex. I supervised the entire build-out process in collaboration with Harvey Norman shopfitting teams, ensuring the store was ready for its successful launch. I attracted and led a dedicated team, including two Maroochydore staff members who, thanks to the trust we had built while I was managing that store, chose to join me despite a 90-minute daily commute.Working closely with Business Development Managers (BDMs), I played a pivotal role in fostering relationships with local schools. This partnership was crucial in driving traffic into the store through uniform contracts and additional product sales, ranging from technology to music equipment. The School Locker, a relatively new venture, was rapidly positioning itself as the go-to retail destination for educational supplies, serving the diverse needs of students, teachers, and schools. My role was pivotal in nurturing its growth and establishing its presence within the local market. Franchisee (Retail Operations & Sales Strategy Leader)Harvey Norman Feb 2014 - Feb 2015Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaAt 29, I became one of Harvey Norman’s youngest franchisees, entrusted with a multi-million-dollar store in Morayfield, greater Brisbane. Unlike most franchisees who began with smaller, regional stores, I was given the rare opportunity to manage a larger store from the start—an acknowledgment of my leadership potential and operational success during the Franchisee in Training (FIT) program.Key Responsibilities:• Managed all aspects of daily store operations, including sales, inventory control, staff management, and customer service.• Strengthened supplier relationships to secure promotional funding and organise events that directly contributed to increased sales.• Mentored and trained staff, focusing on delivering superior customer service and driving consistent sales growth.Key Achievements:• Offered the opportunity to take over newer Harvey Norman Burleigh Waters, based on my performance.• Presented to the entire franchise and leadership body at the Harvey Norman Annual Conference on how immersion in local communities can drive store success and growth. However, despite the offer to manage the newer Burleigh Waters store, personal circumstances required a significant change. My partner’s mother had passed away and we had become the legal guardians of her teenage sister. Given her emotional state and commitments, such as schooling and sports, moving to another location was not feasible. Faced with this personal challenge, I made the difficult decision to stay in the Brisbane area while continuing my career with Harvey Norman’s broader corporate network. In February 2015, I transitioned to help grow The School Locker, a new joint venture under the Harvey Norman Group, which provided a pathway to contribute to building this innovative business model from the ground up. This transition allowed me to leverage my experience while maintaining stability for my family, without the frequent relocations typical of Harvey Norman franchisees at the time. -

Retail Salesperson (Technology & Consumer Electronics Sales Expert)Harvey Norman Dec 2010 - Feb 2011Rockhampton, Queensland, AustraliaPoached from Cash Converters due to the success of my IT Technics side venture, I began my journey with Harvey Norman as a Retail Salesperson in their Technology franchise. With my hands-on experience in IT procurement and a knack for understanding customer needs, I quickly made an impact by driving sales in the highest turnover department of the business—hardware and add-ons. My ability to negotiate deals and deliver value to both farmers and tech customers alike translated seamlessly into exceeding targets in-store.A key highlight during this time was helping to organise the Yeppoon sale, an off-site event where I was responsible for setting up and running a temporary sales floor. Truckloads of goods were moved to a warehouse, where I helped generate high-volume sales over two days. My tenacity and sleeves-rolled-up attitude helped ensure the sale was a success, boosting both revenue and team morale. In addition to helping to manage large sales events, I was often found on the hardware floor, or sometimes chasing down thieves. My proactive, results-driven approach didn’t go unnoticed, and I was fast-tracked to a Floor Manager role within a few months. This early phase at Harvey Norman honed my sales and customer service skills and laid the groundwork for my future leadership roles.Key Achievements:• Fast-tracked promotion to Floor Manager within 3 months due to exceptional sales performance.• Organised the high-volume Yeppoon sale event, managing logistics and generating substantial revenue.• Excelled in the hardware and add-ons department, the highest turnover and most profitable area of the store. -

Customer Service Officer (Loan & Valuation Specialist)Cash Converters 2006 - 2007Rockhampton, Queensland, AustraliaAs a Customer Service Officer, I evaluated high-value items and contributed to the rollout of finance and payday loans, helping drive new revenue streams while balancing customer needs with loan decisions. This was the first company I committed to following the professional development from my first years out of the education system. I was responsible for assessing and valuing a wide range of customer goods to determine their loan eligibility. Technology Procurement Consultant (Negotiation & Client Solutions Expert)It Technics 2007 - 2010Rockhampton, Queensland, AustraliaWhile balancing my responsibilities as Branch Manager at Cash Converters, I developed a unique side project supporting local farmers. I leveraged my rural background to secure the best technology deals for them by negotiating prices with tech retailers and comparing specifications, regional availability and price. This initiative allowed me to hone my negotiation skills and deepen my understanding of customer needs, later serving to bring valuable insights into my sales approach at Harvey Norman. The service was simple: farmers would provide me with their technology needs and budget, and I would take this information directly to local tech retailers, clipboard in hand. I openly compared specs, prices, and availability to find the best deals. This service not only helped the farmers save money, but it also incentivised me to negotiate better prices, as I pocketed a percentage of the savings I secured for them.It was this hands-on, practical approach to technology buying that caught the attention of the Harvey Norman proprietor in Rockhampton. After several months of invitations to industry events and business dinners, he eventually persuaded me to join his team as a Salesperson in the Technology franchise in the Rockhampton store. This would mark the start of my journey with Harvey Norman.
