Since 2017, I have been working with Bank of England policy makers on bank capital and MREL policy and practice, bank resolution policy and contingency planning, the development of new resolution frameworks for CCPs and insurance firms, and the government's post-Brexit programme to 'assimilate' retained EU law financial services law.Previously a transactional Finance and Capital Markets partner at both Clifford Chance (CC) and Sidley Austin's London office, my experience spans advising on a wide range of finance, banking and debt and equity capital markets transactions, both investment and non-investment grade, structured and plain vanilla, including many financings and restructurings across Europe and the emerging markets. I also have experience in advising asset managers on their investments in stressed and distressed situations and of negotiating and documenting restructurings in Europe, Central Asia and the Far East. More recently I have specialised in the various regulatory responses to the global financial crisis, particularly Basel III/CRR/CRD/BRRD.I am legally qualified in England/Wales, Hong Kong and New York.Much of my international experience has involved a deep immersion in emerging markets financings and restructurings. While at Sidley, I focused on public/private sector restructuring in SE Europe and Central Asia, acting as legal adviser to Bank of Cyprus on both its bail-in of creditors and depositors and its subsequent equity capital raising. I was also the principal international adviser to JSC Astana Finance of Kazakhstan on a complex creditor restructuring that was completed successfully in 2015.
