    Snehalaya is a charity that helps hundreds of orphaned children, women in the sex trade and rehabilitates those with HIV. Snehalaya has a variety of projects such as a school that teaches 300 kids, a child line service, an adoption centre, a farm, a centre for the deaf and blind and individual slum projects. Whilst I was in India I worked as a teaching assistant whilst also being the lead on the business side of the charity. I conducted a review of their fundraising strategy, their HR policies and a farm that produces food for the children whilst helping their HIV beneficiaries. My presentation was well received by the Snehalaya senior management team at our final meeting.

    Leeds Beckett Students'​ Union is an organisation that represents 28, 000 students. The Vice President Activities is one of 4 full time elected officers who represent those students. Leeds Beckett Students'​ Union had a turnover of £2 million 2013-14. The Students'​ Union (SU) has 54 staff as well as its bar staff. The Students' Union offers a wide range of services for its students including education representation, an advice service, societies, student media, volunteering, Raise and Give fundraising (RAG), gigs and political campaigns. The VP Activities is one of 4 leaders of the organisation who decides the strategic direction of the SU. The VP Activities is responsible for societies, student media, volunteering and RAG. During my time in office I achieved the following –. Launched a general election campaign to get students registered to vote. We created our own website to help them register and over 2000 students accessed our website in one day. . Set up inter-society nights that were attended by up to 15 societies and 75 people each night. . Number of active volunteers increased by over 700% and we became the most active micro-volunteering organisation in the country. We developed a network of over 75 community partners. . Set up BeRadio our student radio station which we played in our bars and it had 7 different shows. At times BeRadio was being listened to by more than 70 students.. Transformed society forum, a meeting that I chaired, by changing the bye laws and the structure of the meetings. At times we had over 50 students attend and we had to move to a bigger room.
