Sole on-site IT Support for over 120 employees for a global paper manufacturing company. My work involves maintaining the network security, from the end user to the network infrastructure.My day-to-day work is structured around the CIS controls, aiming to carry out the basic tasks for risk mitigation such as keeping devices configured and secured properly and ensuring correct asset management. By doing this, the more sophisticated controls implemented, such as boundary device configuration and access control, serve as an extra layer of long-term protection.

Once I completed my Apprenticeship course, I was offered a full time position as an IT technician at CMS. My workload was split in to two;part of the help desk team for two weeks of the month, taking calls from customers and fixing issues remotely, both independently and as part of a team. For the other two weeks of the month I am part of the field service team, fixing hardware issues both in the workshop and at the customers site. This extended to installing new hardware equipment for the user onsite, meeting each specific demand and making sure their IT needs are met.When the Purchasing manager is not in, I cover his role and carry out all of the tasks he would normally do, purchasing, quoting and selling equipment to customers.As well as these roles, I also carry out the health and safety checks I have been assigned to do around the CMS building.
