I am a proud descendant of the Trawlwoolway people from Tebrakunna country in Trowunna, Tasmania. At 32, I had to leave a successful career managing a business unit that generated $33 million in annual gross revenue for the logistics of all Hollywood productions shot in Australia. However, the frequent trips to LA took a toll on me and I decided to pursue an MBA. Although I did not have a university degree, I felt it was necessary to move out of the entertainment industry and into a more traditional job. After completing my MBA, I was disappointed with the relevance of my tertiary education and began working towards improving the education system by bringing curiosity back into the learning experience. I was then seconded to Flinders University as an Executive in Residence, where I helped establish the New Venture Institute. Most recently, I served as the founding Head of Experience at the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship, a $25 million initiative by the NSW government to foster next-generation entrepreneurship and connect 12 institutions, 700,000 students, and over 200 campuses across NSW. Currently, I run my own innovation consultancy, The Scale Institute, where my team and I design innovative learning strategies and product development opportunities for a diverse group of clients across Australia, including universities, large corporations, and SMEs, all of which value learning.
