Marketing has been at the core of my career that has allowed me to work with some fantastic Cork organisations such as Cork City FC, Fota Wildlife Park and Cork's RedFM. These roles gave me the experience to launch Narration, an outsourced marketing agency that specialises in consultancy, content creation, event management and training helping businesses improve their brand storytelling. On top of this I also launched 24 stories which is a tribe for marketers in Cork that has hosted conferences, talks, workshops and now a podcast series where I interview 24 guests from a variety of industries.During my time as Head of Marketing at Cork's RedFM I was responsible for all branding, sponsorship, social media, promotions, events and digital. Over the 2 1/2 years RedFM went from strength to strength with record daily listener figures, won 5 Radio awards including Music Station of the Year, 3 Cork Digital Marketing Awards including best Digital Strategy and was a finalist for Cork Company of Year. Previously I held the same position at Fota Wildlife Park for over 7 years. As part of the senior management team I was responsible for all Marketing, Commercial and Customer activities. Over those 7 years Marketing changed a lot as it moved into the Digital world and I am delighted to say that Fota Wildlife Park went with those changes. I looked at the marketing communications wheel and integrated every piece to make the brand identity stronger in the public domain. I put communications at the forefront of our strategy and tried where possible to communicate with people on a daily basis through traditional pr, email, direct mail and social media. This helped website visits increase by 600% to 380,000 and more importantly visitor number by 33% to 438,000. At the heart of this success was the digital community I built which went from zero in 2008 when I took over to 123,000 Facebook fans and 14,000 twitters followers when I left. The digital success at Fota led to me giving lectures on Digital Marketing & social media to students attending CIT, UCC, LIT and Tennessee State University. I have also given talks at conferences/events for BIAZA, Media contact, Marketing Institute, Web summit, Cork County Council, Cork Chamber, Failte Ireland and a variety of other organisations. That speaking experience led to my position as Lecturer on Digital & Marketing modules on a number of courses at MTU which I have been doing since September 2014. Podcast Host24 Stories Oct 2018 - PresentCounty Cork, IrelandBetween 2014 and 2018 I was lucky enough to teach over 1,000 students in the areas of digital and traditional marketing in both CIT and UCC. Those students have ranged in age from 15 to 65 and in each case there was a common ground. They loved to hear stories. Anytime I spoke about my industry experience, anytime I brought someone in from industry and anytime I brought in a live case study the students came alive. I felt this on its own was a great way to develop continuous learning especially for those who are no longer in 3rd level education but also for businesses who are doing it on a day to day basis. This idea was backed up by many individuals who had already graduated but wanted to continue to develop their skills in marketing. A lot of them said that Cork was lacking enough events to do this. The aim of 24 stories was to bring people together in small classroom type environments and cover 4 key topics each month. This was done between November 2018 and March 2020 when over 20 talks and 2 conferences took place.Covid meant that in person events could not take place and in September 2021 the concept moved into a podcast format. Each series of the podcast features 24 different people telling the story of how they built their brand. -
