We help elect candidates who believe in comprehensive police reform.

I briefed National Urban League President, Marc Morial, on national voting trends and voter suppression activities. I tracked voter turnout and voter suppression tactics in six swing states during the 2020 general election and Georgia senate elections. I created a dashboard that monitored daily voter outreach and designed strategies to combat illegal actions taken by local and state actors.

•Serve as in-house policy counsel on a wide range of federal policy issues and provide in-depth analysis on existing and emerging policy initiatives and their impact on individuals with learning and attention issues, and lead NCLD’s effective response.•Create and execute national multi-year policy agenda and complementary campaigns to advance important and systemic change benefitting individuals with learning and attention issues.•Identify and analyze key U.S. federal public policy issues that may have an impact on the 1 in 5 children with learning and attention issues and their families; and lead the development of organization-wide policy solutions and recommendations to address them.•Develop, implement, and manage NCLD’s legislative and political strategy to advance the organization’s policy agenda and organizational objectives using creative and innovative approaches.•Establish and cultivate external relationships with Congressional offices and decision makers from both political parties, the Administration, allied organizations, coalition partners, and initiate and maintain strategic partnerships to support NCLD’s public policy agenda. •Identify and manage opportunities for NCLD to advance its policy agenda through special projects, white papers, and other initiatives that contribute to thought leadership supporting the 1 in 5 with learning and attention issues.

● Selected as one of 15 out of an applicant pool of 500 candidates and expertly manage a diverse legislative portfolio, including criminal justice, environmental and energy policy, women’s issues, labor and veterans affairs.● Wrote and comprehensively managed the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park Act of 2017 which passed the House of Representatives with 30 bipartisan cosponsors.● Organized a high profile Congressional briefing on Civil Rights Movement and Black History Month in collaboration with Teaching for Change which exceeded all expectations.● Advanced, supported and communicated a diverse array of legislative priorities of the Congressman – a member of the Ways and Means Committee – to constituents, legislative staff, and other stakeholders.● Conceptualized and drafted the Law Enforcement Inclusion Act of 2016 and Community Reentry Act of 2017 to exacting professional standards and under a heavy workload.● Composed and oversaw entirety of bipartisan YouthBuild appropriation letter driving 150+ cosponsors.

I conceptualized, created, and implemented a network of professional development for teachers with 3-25 years of experience. I designed alternative learning experiences for over 1,000 alumni teachers and corps members.● Promoted to Director of Alumni Teacher Leadership, and excelled as a member of Senior Leadership Team for the region.● Designed unique, aggressive alumni meeting strategy to individually and collectively motivate alumni to take action, sharing resources and tools to continuously assist with short and long-term career goals.● Originated numerous new opportunities to connect with fellow alumni and volunteer opportunities, share updates on Teach for America, and reconnect alumni with the Teach for America movement.● Built productive, external professional relationships with essential community stakeholders, including schools, school systems, parent associations, university partners, and advocacy organizations to set a clear agenda for change and identify opportunities for partnership.● Utilized Salesforce and established formal protocols to more accurately report/track alumni progress toward career goals, monitor involvement with Teach For America, and make data-driven decisions regarding strategic priorities.

Built strategic community partnerships, managed a portfolio of principals and supported incoming corps members matriculation and placement.● Championed integral community partnerships vision and operational plan with Senior Managing Director, Partnerships & Human Capital, and built relationships with 105+ community stakeholders.● Planned, executed and scaled Dallas-Fort Worth’s second annual Ed Reform Bazaar to improve existing and cultivate new community partners as well as recruit and retain talent for over 460 corps members. ● Originated and executed comprehensive alumni talent recruitment and operational retention plan, including Dallas-Fort Worth’s first annual talent recruitment weekend as an essential regional component.● Integrated software solutions to create and manage a database of alumni currently seeking job opportunities, as well as efficiently track open positions in the metropolis and proactively match them. ● Developed, organized and executed stellar Teach Beyond 2 Campaign, in addition to the What’s Next Lunch in partnership with Manager, Community Partnerships as a key alumni retention and engagement strategy.● Handled flawless launch of the first-ever Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of The Collective by identifying, cultivating and supporting a diverse group of alumni of color to build an advisory board.● Managed The Collective and their advisory board, and partnered directly with Regional Impact Groups to engage and leverage alumni in their work.

Managed field organizers, early vote campaign, and other targeted project staff. Supported state leadership in designing and executing a campaign for NC, leveraging knowledge of local communities, demographics and social/political issues.● Designed entirety of volunteer recruitment, training, and management system to maintain exceptional quality, diversity and the quantity of support staff over the course of the campaign (10 staff, 160 volunteers).● Developed custom-tailored outreach plans for an urban region of Winston-Salem, NC, monitored policy decisions, created contingency plans, and drafted talking points and remarks for local elected officials.● Coordinated logistically complex voter registration drives that resulted in 7,500+ voters registered in only six months.● Orchestrated distribution of 5K+ community credentials for Democratic National Convention.● Established a cohesive grassroots network which produced a record 50K phones calls in six months.● Managed and strengthened crucial political relationships with elected local, state, and federal officials.
