About Stephen Schiestel, Cfa

I am a passionate educator and financial advisor dedicated to improving personal financial education and financial decision making. I have had the privilege of working in three distinct careers: commercial lending, wealth management, and college teaching. I started my career in commercial banking where I was a commercial credit analyst and commercial lender. In wealth management, I was an equity analyst, portfolio manager, financial planner, investment research director, chief investment officer all at a regional bank and now an owner of Grand Capital Advisors - a fee-only fiduciary financial planning and wealth management firm. In addition to helping clients at our firm, I also teach finance full time at Michigan State University's Broad College of Business. As a result of these varied experiences, I bring a broad collection of experiences and skills to serve both my students and clients. I enjoy weaving the theoretical and real-world examples that I have experienced for the benefit of everyone. I look forward to having a conversation with you.Areas of expertise include:Teaching financeCurriculum developmentProgram leadershipFinancial planningRetirement planningInvestment managementAsset allocationPortfolio design Compliance
