Professional: specialist tax and strategic planningPeople say that I have a rare combination of expertise across private and corporate advisory areas. On the corporate side, I advise business owners on succession, options and incentives for executives, and capital tax planning.I have particular expertise in planning and structuring for farms and landed estates, particularly in relation to partnerships, trusts and alternative arrangements. I started my legal career in the area of private client tax and asset planning, and later moved across to the company and commercial team (having realised that life is easier when the fees are tax deductible). I ran the business as managing partner of the firm (with about 180 staff) for six years from 2006, so I understand the pressures of running a business in the good times and the not so good. I decided to return to mainstream practice in 2012. Working across private client and corporate areas means that you tend to keep busy. I was ranked as a leader in my field in Chambers 2014.The weekend job - farming, equestrian and fishery management:For R&R I have had a second career running a 50 acre farm in Dorset since 1985 and have developed a livery yard, coarse fishery and environmental interests. Doing a bit of good:I have been involved in creating and running Lazers, a young people's club in Cranborne, Dorset, since at least the early 1990s although no-one can remember exactly when it started!
