Company had been reliant on an outside consulting firm to provide IT services for routine moves, adds, and changes which were not cost efficient. I was hired on to migrate the Netware and Groupwise environment to Active Directory and to bring IT services in house. Using Sender ID and McAfee Groupshield, reduced the amount of junk mail entering into the organization by over 98%. Designed new network, replacing legacy 3Com unmanaged switches and Novell Border Manager with Cisco Catalyst 3560s and ASA 5510 firewall. Utilized Open Helix and migrated Real Media Steaming archives off hosted Real Media servers onto own cool server, thereby increasing storage space eight fold, while cutting hosted costs by more than 75%. Setup QoS to handle VoIP and Video traffic on company network. Built NAS using Open Source software, increased storage capacity nine fold for 1/6 the cost of commercial NAS solution.

Hired on to manage Active Directory and Exchange environment. Consolidated disparate file shares into centralized NAS using SAMBA on RedHat Linux and Netatalk Implemented Squid Proxy, BIND DNS, Lyris list manager, and Apache Web servers to provide internet connectivity to company network. Designed custom subnet for company network, tripling the amount of usable IP addresses. Setup Cisco PIX firewall to secure company web servers.

ACT is a civil engineer firm that specializes in web based project management. I helped to develop an online project management system for engineering projects based on Cold Fusion. System was used for construction projects by CalTrans, OCTA, and Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. Also served as Systems Administrator of company's SQL, NT4, Sendmail, and NFS servers.

Part of the University of California System, UCI is one of the largest research institutions in California. I provided end user support for the Center for Education Partnerships which consisted of about 300 users. Also created user documentation and managed the LAN and AppleShare IP systems.
