About Stephen Strum

I currently work as the Senior Manager of Extended Forecast Services with DTN. Primary job responsibilities including leading a team of long range forecast meteorologists in the US and Europe, managing product development, developing and maintaining code that supports client-facing products, managing weather and data servers, providing customer support regarding weather needs, supporting other weather teams within DTN with internal weather data and products, forecast verification work, and helping the forecast engine team identify ways to improve global forecast output. DTN acquired WDT, Inc. in November 2018 and WDT, Inc had previously acquired my company, Frontier Weather, Inc. on 9/1/2016.I started Frontier Weather in 2003, a weather services company to provide historical and forecast weather data and services to companies in energy and finance. Prior to starting Frontier Weather, I worked as the lead meteorologist at Williams Energy, in Tulsa OK from 1999 to 2003. Primary duties included daily forecast preparation, communication with power, gas and oil traders, and weather broadcasts on Energy News Live.Specialties: Product development, web programming, JavaScript, Perl, GrADS, advanced MS Office knowledge including VBA scripting, integrating API output into processes, utilizing AI to speed up code development, weather forecasting, database management, started Palantir training in late August 2024.Random: Black Belt in Taekwondo (1st degree earned in 2021), Astrophotographer, YouTube content creator. Learned how to weld using MIG and flux welders during 2024. Prop building for band performances. Building scale models for commission.
