As Executive Director of the Laboratory Safety Institute (LSI), I lead our mission to empower safer science in classrooms and labs worldwide. At LSI, we are committed to fostering a culture of safety that goes beyond compliance, equipping K-12 educators, community colleges, and professional labs with the tools needed to create safer learning and working environments. Through initiatives like our Safer Science Lab Summit and our growing partnership with the STEMM Opportunity Alliance, we aim to close resource gaps and ensure that students and educators are prepared to handle scientific exploration safely and effectively.We are currently focused on expanding our Safer Science Program, which provides expert-led training, actionable strategies, and the development of a robust safety culture. In 2025, we will be expanding these efforts into primarily undergraduate institutions, community colleges, and universities, ensuring that the same hands-on safety solutions reach higher education environments.
