• Design bespoke mechanical maritime equipment for use within the fishing industry. • Manage projects from initial concept, detailed design, assembly, and testing. • Work closely with the design team to bring innovative concepts to life through CAD modelling and detailed specification for manufacture. • Use SolidWorks to develop complex multi-part CAD assemblies and output detailed specification drawings for our in-house machining and fabrication departments. • Analyse and solve problems from basic engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems. • Communicate and work closely with suppliers to procure materials and components. • Manage, plan, and execute projects on schedule and within budget. • Work with vessel owners and shipyard to achieve product designs that match or exceed the brief. • Generating handover documentation in the form of dimensional drawings, parts lists, and maintenance procedures. Key projects included: • Designed two 20ton Trawl Winches for customers in Australia.• Designed a bespoke Anchor Windlass for a Scallop Fishing Vessel. Generated comprehensive technical drawings, brake-force calculations, and stress calculations including an FEA analysis for Bureau Veritas approval. • Designed a telescopic landing crane for use in the salmon farming industry.• Designed a complete package of maritime equipment for a scallop vessel which included: 11m hydraulic doors, telescopic gantry blocks, winches, conveyors, and landing crane.

• Assigned myself strict deadlines for projects while having very sparse contact with overseas customer. • Designed new modern style faucets, an in-wall shower valve with increased flow rate, and redesigned existing faucets as per the customer’s request.

• Redesigned a branded faucet line to reduce the cost and weight. A greater than 50% decrease in cost and weight was achieved in some instances. • Designed a new original line of kitchen accessories for manufacture. • Generated realistic renders of new designs to better communicate a designs visual impact. • Liaised with suppliers in China to implement design changes and order prototypes. • Generated detailed specification drawings and Bill of Material lists for manufacture. • Quality checked prototype parts to ensure standards were met.

KER Group is an electrical and refrigeration engineering firm that specialize in a wide range of services to the offshore industry particularly the Marine and Oil & Gas sectors. As part of a number of summer work periods, I assisted the electrical/refrigeration engineer to fit refrigeration systems to fishing vessels i.e. condensers, coolers etc. My regular duties included fitting piping for RSW (refrigerated sea water) systems, gathering materials, simple MMA welding and collecting and organizing equipment.
