The Texas State Teachers Association Help Center assists association members with advice on contracts, disciplinary issues, student-teacher interactions, and grievances.

NFBNewsline is a program created and sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind. It provides over 300 newspapers and magazines to the blind and print handicapped through the telephone as well as through the computer. The papers can be read either through audio output or in Braille. The program is nationwide, but each state administers its own promotional activities. As Newsline Coordinator, I work to add as many new subscribers as possible so that the program becomes ever more cost effective. I also recruit papers and magazines in Texas to contribute their content to the service. Currently, there are fourteen Newspapers and one magazine for Texas. The magazine is the Texas Monthly. The newspapers are the Amarillo Globe, the Austin American Statesman, the Dallas Morning News, the Beaumont Enterprise, the El Paso Times, the Fort Worth Star Telegram, the Houston Chronicle, the Monitor, the Lubbock Avalanche Journal, the Corpus Christi Caller, the San Antonio Express, La Frontera, the Tyler Morning Telegraph, the Victoria Advocate, and Texas Monthly. We are working to add four more publications this year. To grow the service, I speak to Lions Clubs and other civic and service organizations as well as institutions and schools that serve the blind. I also arrange for advertising and participation in conferences and conventions such as the Texas Library Association’s annual convention.
